Something we haven't done for a while is a theme night, and seeing as this year is the 100th anniversary of the end of World War 1, and April contains the anniversary of the ANZAC landings at Gallipoli, this seemed a good opportunity to hold a theme night dedicated to the ANZACs and things military.
Tonight for the first half we're asking for floor spots with a war (or anti-war) theme.
The 2nd half features a line up of invited and talented singers & musicians including:-
who will be telling a story, to remember the glory and the folly that was World War 1.
Hot Diggity is the only all-female bluegrass band currently playing in New Zealand, with members travelling from, as far north as Whangarei and as far south as New Plymouth.
They play original songs by Heather Carrigan (mandolin and vocals) and Deborah Mackenzie (guitar and vocals) along with plenty of bluegrass favourites. Backed up by Jenine Abarbanel (bass and vocals), Sue Drake (banjo and vocals) and Krissy Jackson (fiddle and vocals), they put out a powerful, lively sound with hot instrumentation and tight harmonies.
Lovers of bluegrass tradition and the time period of its birth, the Hot Diggity ladies only perform while kitted out in the finest 40's and 50's vintage style.
