Beverley Young – Saturday 14th May 2022

Beverley Young (with Bodhran)

Beverley Young has put together a top-class set from her extensive repertoire  of songs to enthrall and entertain us tonight.

Her material will be  mostly from British and Irish traditions, with maybe a sprinkling of trad-style American country added, and a little from New Zealand for good measure. Expect tales of roguish behaviour, work and hardship and love and loss — traditional songs that prove nothing really changes through the years.

Beverley is a long time singer and lover of folk song. She honed her style at the Devonport folk club, has been a favourite performer at Titirangi folk club over the years, and has performed at venues all over the country. She reflects that she has had the good fortune to be able to share the stage along the way with her idols Martin Carthy and Andy Irvine, among others, at festivals and folk clubs around New Zealand, which Beverley regards as her biggest thrill.

She has recorded three albums, the first of which, Bushes And Briars, won the New Zealand Folk Album award.

Beverley will be joined by husband Al Young who will be playing back up on guitar and dobro and maybe a little banjo, and working hard for his money!

So it will be a cool and laid back night at Titirangi. Beverley is looking forward to singing for you, and to having the pleasure of your company. See you there!

Friday Folk ‘n’ Jam – Friday 27th May 2022

Circle of Friday night musicians in the Beach Hall
Circle of Friday night musicians in the Titirangi Beach Hall

An evening of taking turns to share music and songs around the circle, joining in when you can, with harmonies on your instrument or voice. Participate or listen. The choice is yours.

We’re a totally informal, small friendly group of people who like to sing and play music. This is a good place for experienced musicians to meet up and enjoy playing together.

If you do not sing or play and would like to then here you’ll find encouragement. There is never any pressure and you may wish to visit a few times to get confidence or you may already be confident, it does not matter, no one will criticise, only support.

Vaccine Pass required for entry.
Doors open 7.30pm for a 7.30pm Start
Admission $5
