Lothlórien – Saturday 13th February 2021

Deferred because of Covid back in September, we are now very pleased to present Lothlórien!

Lothlórien

Lothlórien is a Celtic music group taking its name from the magical forest found in Tolkien’s ‘Lord of the Rings’.

Based in Auckland, New Zealand, the group plays Celtic music mainly from Ireland, Scotland and England with occasional forays elsewhere.

Lothlórien plays both traditional folk and contemporary songs and tunes, from ethereal and haunting (in the style of Clannad and Loreena McKennitt) to jaunty and lively (such as jigs and reels), including some original compositions.

Amongst our influences – Clannad, Loreena McKennitt, Connie Dover, Capercaillie, Dervish, Deanta, Altan, Solas and many others…..

🎅 Cameron Bennett – Friday 11th December 2020 – Note Change of Date 🎅

Cameron Bennett. Photo: NZ Herald

Cameron’s day job is making television documentary and current affairs, but after-hours has always been about making music – from trad folk to bluegrass and country.

He plays acoustic and lap steel guitars in a number of line-ups, including Chris Priestley’s ‘Unsung Heroes,’ ‘Martha and the Backseat Drivers’ and ‘Bluegrass & Beyond.’

For the past decade, he’s turned his hand to writing songs that draw on the heritage, heartache and hope of this country of ours.

Looking For Alaska – Saturday 10th October 2020

Looking For Alaska

Members Aaron Gott and Amy Maynard offer up a sound rooted in country-style guitar and soaring harmonies woven together at their very fibre, intensified by their on-stage chemistry. The duo’s familiarity, closeness and authenticity is fuelled by their real-life romance, creating a magnetic performance style that captivates their audience time and time again, and has seen them open for the likes of Fly My Pretties, Herbs and Tiny Ruins, and as a featured act at the Canterbury Folk Festival.

Having performed together extensively since they bonded during a recording assignment at music school in 2012, Aaron and Amy embarked upon their newest musical endeavour Looking For Alaska two years ago, and have since worked tirelessly to create a collection of original material, ranging from thigh-slapping, foot-stomping folk sing-alongs, to poignant heart-rending ballads drenched in melancholy.

Looking For Alaska are currently gearing up for the release of their new album, ‘Light and Shadow,’ which is due for release on 6th November.
