Sadie & Jay – Saturday 12th June 2021

Sadie & Jay

Sadie & Jay have been laying roots in the Waikato after a great leap across the ditch last year. Their distinctive sound has been reaching far flung places since producing three albums with international tours and airplay. They began making their musical mark in NZ as headliners at Hamilton Folk Festival in 2019. Audiences at last years Wellington Folk Festival & this years Auckland Folk Festival welcomed Sadie & Jay with full voices singing “Why Would You (want to be anywhere else?!”)

With Welsh heritage, Sadie’s love for singing and songwriting is instinctive. Born in Scotland and raised in New Zealand, Jay grew up in the musical Penman family immersed in the tradition. Together they write exquisitely crafted songs blending glorious harmonies with intricate guitar, bouzouki and double bass.

Awarded Australian Celtic Album of the Year 2020, Sadie & Jay’s third release ‘A Passing of Seasons’ weaves stories of spirited historical characters with beautiful instrumentation.
