We can’t run the club in the Beach hall till Auckland is back at Covid Alert Level 1, so tonight will again be a singaround via Zoom. It will include some playing from 2 members, Helen Douglas and Mark Sanders, of the previously advertised Outsiders, and we’ll get all of The Outsiders back in for a proper spot on Saturday 12th March 2022, virus permitting.
Join from 7.30pm for a chat etc. but music kicks off at 8.00PM.
The AGM will happen via Zoom, at 8:45pm, even if you can’t make the rest of the evening, we’d like as many of our members as possible in for the AGM, we expect it to be short and sweet.

Adam McGrath is a folk singer stationed wherever he lands. He travels the state highways and byways of New Zealand, Australia, Europe and parts beyond. He hopes for the best, prepares for the worst and believes in the poetry of Smokey Robinson and the Miracles and the fury of word on the page. He lives alone, cooks infrequently and is scared of flags that blow to the right.
His songs have gathered a clutch of good reviews in NZ and overseas, he’s been nominated for a couple of serious music awards (including the Apra Silver Scroll), Graham Reid from the NZ Herald called him ‘NZ’s toughest minded songwriter’, and Barry Saunders from The Warratahs simply described him as “The Truth”.
Although the gathering of such plaudits makes him blush behind his rapidly graying beard, McGrath is very thankful. A people’s player, he works his ass off for any audience he finds himself in front of. He takes the most pride in getting up and putting it down, in both small towns and big, choosing real gigs over showcases and the joy of shaking hands and sharing beers with the folks met along the way.
Described as “two parts Woody Guthrie, one part revival meeting and one part group hug” a McGrath show goes straight for the spirit level in all of us, looking deep for the heart and hoping to reach the thinking part of the brain all the while.

have been laying roots in the Waikato after a great leap across the ditch last year. Their distinctive sound has been reaching far flung places since producing three albums with international tours and airplay. They began making their musical mark in NZ as headliners at Hamilton Folk Festival in 2019. Audiences at last years Wellington Folk Festival & this years Auckland Folk Festival welcomed Sadie & Jay with full voices singing “Why Would You (want to be anywhere else?!”)
With Welsh heritage, Sadie’s love for singing and songwriting is instinctive. Born in Scotland and raised in New Zealand, Jay grew up in the musical Penman family immersed in the tradition. Together they write exquisitely crafted songs blending glorious harmonies with intricate guitar, bouzouki and double bass.
Awarded Australian Celtic Album of the Year 2020, Sadie & Jay’s third release ‘A Passing of Seasons’ weaves stories of spirited historical characters with beautiful instrumentation.
